Default For those that have done the Clutch Pak TSB

OK, so before you took your car in for the clutch pak TSB repair, what did it sound like?? Yeah, I used the search function, but the most common description I could find was a "moaning" or "grinding" sound.....The one thread I found that better describes what I am hearing was entitled.."Dolphins in the Trunk!!"

I started occasionally hearing a strange noise a few weeks back, and basically wrote it off to being someone else's car I was hearing....It does seem to be more likely to occur during or following a turn, but, I did hear it once following raising the RPM's in second gear, and letting the car decellerate. It almost sounds like the screech of a loose belt, but that aint it......doesn't do it all the time, just on occasion. Car is just hitting 15K miles....

So, anyone have these symptoms prior to clutch pak repair???

Thx,
Mike

I've had to have the clutch packs replaced in another vehicle, recently. It was due to binding in the differential. Although, it wasn't a Ford, I'm guessing the symptoms are probably pretty close.

It would happen making tight turns at low speeds. For example, when I was turning into or out of a parking space. I would also hear a "shudder" from the back and feel it bind.

Try doing some sharp figure eights at low speed in a vacant parking lot. If your differential is binding, then it will probably show up under those conditions.

The clutch packs noise will sound kind of like a tire squeal going on and off.
Which dealer do you plan on taking it to?

Mine also sounded like a powersteering pump and only did it during slow hard turns

Hmm....Sounds as if this MAY be it, but still not sure. I will try the slow figure 8's in a parking lot. The tire squeal comes somewhat close to the "slipping belt" sound....

Well, I bought it at Villa Ford, but their service sucks....McCoy over in Fullerton is close to work, and I think they are semi mod friendly, although I don't know if the CAI and tune would raise their eyebrow for clutch pak or not....If I decide this is the issue, and take it in, I would like to have them do the fuel pump TSB at the same time, but that only happened to me once, and I don't know if they would insist on trying to replicate the hesitation or not. Pretty sure the tune would cause problems with that one.....
Did you have a suggestion????

Mike

If you feel it's going to be an issue with them let me know. I work at Citrus and will do the fuel pumps for you and will make sure the clutch packs get done for you if you need. Just let me know.

Thanks again,

The dealership should do both TSB's for you regardless of mod's. I had just installed 3.73's when I ran into the clutch pack issue and they agreed it had nothing to do with my gear change and did it without any problems. As far as the fuel pick-up they should do that one as well and not have to drive it to replicate the issue as that would take a run of many miles. Hope all goes well you for you!!!
