Default 18" Bullits and tires weigh 54 lbs each!

So, I am quite frustrated. I had my front wheels off tonight for some maintenance and decided to weigh one of them. I have a digital scale, so I put one of them on it and was blown away as to how heavy they were. 54 lbs each! That makes a total of 216 lbs of wheels and tires! Ouch, No wonder everyone who drag races stays away from larger wheels. Anyone have input on wheels and tires that are lighter that I could use when I go to the track?

My 18" fanblades weighed 57 lbs. each, so I ditched them and bought a set of four 17" stock wheels. Then I bought two more 17" stockers and put these on them:

OK that is probably a reasonable alternative but, How much do the 17" wheels and tires weigh?

Stock tires normally weigh less. The smaller size rims, the less your wheel setup weighs.

Thanks for the replies. Does anyone have some hard numbers on 17" wheels and tires? How much do they weigh?

I've got a set of 17's for sale. I will break them down and sell the wheels only.
