That kind of hammer is not cheap, most tech s buy their own tools so not only did he loose the tool he has to face you when you bring it back. If he has been your tech for a time he will be appoligentic and give you some extra down the road??Sounds like your a good guy if you play it right it will be win / win for both of you!!!

I'm friendly with the owner of the shop, they do all of my work that I can't do myself so I can forgive them over this issue. As long as they're careful in the future...

...but it's true...the only techs I know of that don't have to buy their own stuff are the tire guys at Tire Kingdom...

I used to work in a shop and I always made extra sure I never left any tools small or big under the hood.
If I did I would feel like an idiot. I would expect an angry customer.

Just "dopp" the mallet off to the shop., and don't be an *** over it, NOTHING was hurt, your motor didn't fail, and I suppose, YOU have never made a mistake ??[sm=exactly.gif][sm=closed.gif]
sounds like we have a tech/former tech in the forum!
No, just a tool.
Which is probably why he's sidingwith the mallet.

Hopefully your mechanic replaced his missing black mallett with a neon orange one!
