Default Hurst Shifter Problem

Just installed a Hurst Comp+ shifter. I love the short throws, but ever since it was installed the shaft of the shifter, the boot and the whole center counsel has been hot like cook your eggs hot. What is the problem and how does it get fixed?

Thanks

Black 2007 GT. SLP Power-Flo, Hurst Comp+ Shifter.

there is no fix for this, its because of the heat your cats are producing. you'll have to just live with it.

Mine gets hot, but its still not too hot to hold your hand on it. Mine only gets hot when I'm stuck in traffic. You could always get an O/R H-pipe, that might help.

Thank you both for your responce. I have heard that it gets hot from other owners, but just wasn't expecting it to get as hot as it does. Nobody else really mentions the heat, just how much they like it. Guess I'll live with it, just don't want it melting anything.

Get some dynamat and apply a layer or two there ... anything that can work as a heat sheild and that'll help.

I run a Tri-Ax, and it gets hot too. I now use a resin shift ball, which keeps things cool to the touch.

I figured out what the problem was. When they installed the shifter, they didn't set the rubber boot properly and it was upside-down. I fixed it and now there isn't a lot of heat. I'll try the dynamat too. Thanks for all you suggestions and comments.
