Default Lose Shift ****

Question on how to tighten the shift **** in an '07 GT Premium Manual. Its lose and I can tighten it to where it does not move anymore but then the **** is not centered where it should be. The numbers and markings along with the correct way to hold the grip is about 90 degrees off. Any suggestions on aligning things up correctly in order to have shift **** in correct position and tight. Thank you in advance.

Tighten it against a nut under the shift boot. nuts are ~$0.50 at Loew's.

I guess you'll to have to take it completely off, and play around with what position you start threading it on at (3 oclock, 6 oclock, etc.)...I know mine likes to loosen up once in a while but it's a small price to pay for haulin a$$...
...p.s. I wish a had grabber orange...

Removing the **** is as simple as turning it counter clockwise and keeping the boot in place ?

This bugged me also. No nut will work.
The shaft where it is threaded disappears into the OEM ****
before the shifter even engages threads in the plastic portion.
The threads are plastic in the **** and are threaded when
they are screwed onto the shaft at the factory. RED LOCKTITE
might work or JB Weld.

Sooooo...I went out to the car at lunch and tried to un-tighten it. This seemed to losen something down below the **** including the shaft. I dont know where it was goign to but I figured in the work parking lot was not a good place to try to see. I was able to twist it around 3/4 of the way and got it pretty tight in the right direction. Hopefully this works and did not damage anything.

This kinda scares me seeing as I may have over tightened it to the plastic, which in turn could cause stress and breakage down the road, when Im slaming through the gears. Hopefully not. As long as I break it in the first couple months Ford will fix.
