Default Gear screwup!

I just got 3.73 installed becasue EVERYONE says you shouldn't do them yourself. I payed 440 after tax For the gears, Royal Purple, and Installation. While I was waiting for the shop to open, I was talking to a kid with a saleen clone. He said he just changed his bearings becasue of a whine and now he was getting all kinds of problems. This is what happend becasue he was a DIY'er trying to save $100 (his dad owns a body shop he's not new to cars).

His oil looked like it had gold dust in it, and he needed about $1000 woth of rear-end work

DIY'ers beware. Some things should be left to the pro's

I do all my own work on my car's but i would never attempt a gear swap by myself. I'd even be comfortable doing a supercharger/turbo install before i would attempt gears.

Amen brother Blaven

Rear end gears are just about as easy it get's..... to screw your ride up. I've rebuilt suspension, motors and gearboxes but I'd never have atry at gears. Even pro shops can mess up on them, read the 100 posts about rear end whines

looks like he did-it-himself with those jeans too!

But seriously, this is why you need to take it to a shop that has done gears for a LONG time!
No sense in saving money and then having to spend more after you blow your gears and your warranty on them!
