Shake, Rattle, Roll
Well, fellas, this stinks. I have my first interior rattle. If that's not bad enough, I heard a "different" one today on the way home. The first sounds like it's coming from my Hurst STS (about 4 weeks old). The lever is still tight - used lock washers, bolts, and loctite instead of the allen head bolts. Is there anything on the inside of the mechanism that could be rattling?
The second rattle is more of a squeak. Sounds like it's coming from the dash. I have no freaking clue where though. If I took it to the dealership, and provided I could replicate the sound for them, does anyone know the procedure to fix it? How do they isolate it, and how do they fix it? If it means tearing apart the dash, then I'll probably just put up with the annoying sound. I don't want to open a can of worms...
Guess this means I'll have to blast my stereo more...ignorance is bliss.

Check your dash near the windshield on the drivers side next to the a pillar. My rattles there also and if I press down on the dash it goes away until I let go. At least Ive found it, just have to get it to the dealership to get it fixed
I think the dash squeek is from the foamy material they use where the dash meets the plastic. Mine squeeks when my AC is on! I just live with it. not worth taking to the dealer imo!
I have a theory about unfavorable noises that involves the nature of plastic to expand and contract depending on the ambient temp...the noise sometimes seems to appear or disappear only at certain times of the day or in certain seasons...maybe I'm nuts...anyway, longtubes and some whiny gears should cover up the rattles fairly well lol...
Interesting comments about the climate. It's just starting to get hot around here, so I've been driving around with my windows up and "Max AC" on. Now that some of you mention it, I've only noticed the problem since I've been using the AC. This is probably a reasonable explanation...and also something that I can live with.
Anyone else have Hurst STS noise problems? The rattle definitely sounds like it's coming from the console.
