This or that...Best mod to help 1/4mile times
For starters I just want to let everyone know that I am 90% sure I will be going with a turbo setup in the near future and that is why i'm having a hard time deciding what to do next. All of my mods are listed in my sig except for my lowering springs. I already have LCA's, UCA, and Panhard bar in the works so after that I am looking for something that will be a huge help in the 1/4mile. I ran a 13.74 at 105mph with a 2.04 60ft this last sunday. The car was at full weight with a 205lbs driver and the track temp was 124 degrees. I have talked to a few people and some say I should leave the stock 3:31 gear in until after I get the turbo installed because traction might be an issue if I went to a 3:90 or 4:10. Others say to get the gear and then figure out the suspension afterward. The other option being the torque converter. A very reputable racer from my area was telling me to get the converter first because it is very possible to shave almost a half a second off your time in the 1/4mile. My only worry is if the trans can handle hard launches with a 3200 stall without any other work done to it. Sorry for the super long post, but i'm just trying to figure out what would be the best route to go. Thanks in advance!!!

I didnt vote because i've never used a stall so i dont know which would be better. But personally if youre getting a turbo i would get the 4.10's and some 28x10.5x15 slicks.

I was leaning towards a gear first just because of the cost factor, gear+install will be around $500-600 and the converter+install will be around $1000 for a good one. I would also get a trans cooler just to be on the safe side which would add another $100-200. Maybe the gear is the way to go for now.

You should get some drag radials first.

Why are you hell bent on the 3200 stall? Not that it's bad but turbo set-ups vary drastically and different stalls are optimum for different set-ups. Your builder/installer if they know anything about turbos should be able to recommend what stall would work best for your mods. Are you keeping with the stock trans? It won't last long if you push that turbo.
