Default Looking at 05+ 'Stangs

How's it going, new guy here to MF, hopefully I can post this question in this section. Lately I've been looking at the newer Mustangs and have serisouly considered getting one. I've done some research and read plenty of reviews, really haven't seen anything to deter me from it. Although, it'd be a car I'd put some serious work into, and therefore I wouldn't want to get a new one, but rather one with a little bit of miles on it. My budget is around 21k, and I've seen some GT's for around that price with mileage between 23-30k miles. Basically, I'm wondering if these would be a good buy, and if they still have some life after that mileage? I'm looking for a good platform as well as a dd. All the ones I've seen are from dealerships and not private sellers, if that makes a difference. Anyway, all help is appreciated. I'm contiuing my research, hopefully I can get some good info here. Thanks all.

I too am in the market for a 05-06black GT coupe, willing to wait for one at 17k. Not to worried about milage on the car. Have cash!

Nice forum, lots of great info.

How many domestics does consumer reports recommend? Usually -0-, but they recommend the mustang. The powertrain is very reliable, but of course has its power thresholds. Then again the powertrain can be prepped to withstand anything you can throw at it. They do have the occasional thunk, rattle or interior trim imperfection that are synonomous with mustangs but most of us here consider that a small price to pay for haulin a$$. Needless to say try to find one bone-stock that nobody's pounded on...hell out of all the mustang gt's in my town, mine's the most modded except for one s/c'd one; pretty much everyone else is either bone-stock or only did an axleback or cai/tuner combo, so shouldn't be too difficult to find a "virgin" lol...enjoy!

I'm right at 21K miles on my 07 and have absolutely no complaints (other than no supercharger ). Never been back to the dealer and never suffered through some of the issues I've seen on here with rattling. Great car to date!
