man people are so tough on the internet. this guy seems serious so everyone stop the insults.
you're right, I'm sorry about calling him names. He didn't call me any, until I started it. Its just that I get angry over people who actually do pose a threat to society by driving recklessly on public roads.

BTW, I don't think "menace to society" was over the top.

This thread is reminicient of Gstams "I ate out a hooker" thread. I can't tell if the reaction is exactly what was wanted, although the original post seemed toframe itthat way. I'm thinking this was a parody, right down to the follow-upethug invites.

Years ago there was an article in Car and Driver/Motor Trend or some such magazine about a performance driving school. The instructor started off by saying unless a meteor hit your car from outer-space, any collision is your own fault. I thought I knew how to drive until I spent years and years motorcycle touring. You learn about things like tunnel vision and accident avoidance real quick.

I was gonna say... at the MSF course they call them "crashes" not accidents. all crashes are preventable.

doing 110 is stoopid. I think you got what you deserved - ESPECIALLY when your premium gets jacked up.

BTW, I mostly agree with the "all accidents are preventable" theory. Other than the meteor, or if you are at a stop with nowhere to go. But if you are in motion, driving defensivelyand paying full attention, you are capable of avoiding just about anything hurled at you.

or if you are at a stop with nowhere to go.
i disagree... you should be able to leave enough space between you and the car in front of you to at least pull up half a car length or more... could be enough space to prevent somebody who's not payin attention to save your rear end.

though i'm just as guilty of pulling up on someone's *** at a light as anyone else... [&o]

I leave enough room, but when I'm stopped, I could be rear-ended or sideswiped or even hit head on, even with that margin and with completely cat-like moves. Plus, I'm prone to not paying attention when I'm stopped.
