I think ill be alright if i run 93 instead of 87 until i get the tune (although ill be running a 93 oct tune when i get the tuner). I remember reading on the paperwork that came with it that if i was experiencing leaning to simply use higher octane.

DONT get on it. Drive it like a baby or put your stock CAI on before you get tuned.

I have the BBK intake, and i took it to get dyno tuned. I told my tuner the package said a tune isnt requiered (this is before i knew really anything) and he did a baseline with the intake. My A/F was borderline blowing **** up.

Wow thanks man...im glad you said something. Ive gotten on it in a few races and what not since ive had it on. I wonder if ive done too much damage to my motor? I would already have the stock airbox back on if my bro wouldnt have taken off with the key to a locked tool box! Ahh.

Nah you should be fine. You would most likely know if you did something bad. Just be careful, take it off for best measures untill you get your tune.

Ok good. My buddys A/F was off on his WRX because he didnt know the previous owner had modded it. So he was told to switch to 93 and everything was fine. Only thing is...he got a check engine light...I havnt so i guess its not as bad as it seems. Im at his house right now with the stock air box and tubing in the trunk. It goes on in the morn as my buddy with sockets is at work. Pissed me off to find my tool box locked at home. Grr.

The only intakes i thought that didnt need a tune were the K N and the Granatelli but the GMS comes with a new MAF.

This is a coming mis conception.....there are TONS of CAIs that say they dont need a tune....i would disagree with all of them for the most part, GMS is the exception....you wont be gaining that much HP without the tune and if you are getting alot of HP then you are really leaning the A/F out. Everybody reports that the throttle response is much better....this is very true probably but they dont understand that the throttle response increase DOES NOT EQUAL INCREASED HP neccessarily. A throttle body will give you better response but no HP sometimes.

Bottom line, CAI with TUNE is the only safe way to go.
