IDK too much about manually shifting an auto or stall converters...before I start I should ask what mods you have...
...toss your street tires and go with a drag radial (nittos have mixed reviews but everyone seems to like the mickeys), replace your rear control arms (some do only the lowers but the upper is also a weak link, get an adjustable if you ever plan on lowering the car or doing a driveshaft swap)...pick up some 3.73s...
as far as technique, there's a lot of good threads in street/strip right now regarding burnout and launch technique, rollout, shallow staging etc so swing on by. Congrats on the car...
p.s. best first mod is CAI/tuner combo...use b*a*m*a* chips since you're AT...
edit: I imagine that once the b*a*m*a* tune is loaded and your auto is tightened, you'll just put it in drive and not have to manual shift but I'm sure someone on the forum can verify this.

I enjoy shifting the automatic. Seems more responsive than waiting for the auto trans to drop a gear so it can pick up speed quick.
Know what I mean?

^^^ yeah but I think he's talking about upshifting (street and drag race acceleration from a dig)...

He wasn't talking about downshifting he was talking about launch.

you know us too well!

well as previously stated, let the tranny shift for you (with
preset shift firmness)

also, stay in school, do your chores and go to college.

I believe a tuner can change the shift points can't he? Maybe download a tune specifically for the 1/4 then retune for normal driving?
