Default Kenwood DNX7100

I'll post this question here since I posted a question in the audio/visual forum a day or two ago and got absolutely not responses.

I've been thinking about purchasing a Kenwood DNX7100 Navigation unit. I would like to know if it will show buildings of the surrounding area like the Eclipse units do. Since I have to go to some unusual locations at times it would help if I could see a complete picture of the area. The places that I've found a unit on display couldn't seem to demonstrate the product to well and got conflicting answers to my question.

I actually had the DNX7100, until it got jacked out of my car. Thank goodness for insurance though

But, I don't believe it will show buildings, like important landmarks or anything. Honestly though, I don't think it's a reason to not buy that unit. I loved it for as long as I had it, especially the fact that it's ipod connection is through usb and will play video from your ipod. Navigating through the ipod is soooo easy with that cable.

Did you install it yourself or did you have someone else do it? If you installed it yourself how hard was the install? I've been to a couple of places and it seems that none of them want to hook it up to the factory amp for the subs.

I just installed the DDX-6019 with the Nav system. I believe they would have the same functions as they use the same plugin Garmin GPS receiver. If so, no, it will not display buildings, but is a great Nav unit IMO.

EDIT:

Just checked and it doesn't use the same plugin as mine (it's built-in), but it is the same Garmin system and appears to have the exact same options as mine. You can read a fairly detailed description of the NAV software here:

Get the conversion cable from Crutchfield a 5V regulator from Radio Shack and it's pretty easy actually. I replaced my Shaker 1000 HU and still use all of the factory subs and speakers
