Default Stock Mufflers Too Restrictive ?

Just curious...although i like the sound of the stock mufflers with my longtubes/ highflow cats . I am wondering if I should be runningsome less restrictive mufflerswith a whipple.? Would i get any performance gains with something more free flowing ?

You free'ed up the restritiveness with the LT headers and Hi-flow cats. The mufflers would really only change the sound now. You should switch to aftermarket ones since they will look so much better. The stock ones are pretty ugly.

From what I've gathered on here, there isn't much if anything to be gained from changing out the stock mufflers. I personaly am leaving my stock mufflers on, I like my car being quiet and stock sounding.

from what I've read not much of a gain....however Livernois has a vid on youtube for a GT500 changing out the stock axlebacks for Corsa's and picking up 14 RWHP.

05 mustang gt, shorties, C&L, UDP, CMCV. Swapped to a x-pipe and corsa exhaust. A whopping 7 HP gain and 9lb of torque...

Not worth it, just a sound mod IMHO

no gains from mufflers only. I like mine because of the looks and sound, but dont put them on expecting it to run better

+1, hell my a/b may have cost me a ft/lb or two...it would be interesting to do some before and after dyno testing...

My car made 450 with Pypes offroad H pipe thru the stock mufflers. Quiet at idle and just right on the throttle. For the guys that like obnoctiously loud then the stockers are not the way to go, but they sound clean and no drone ...

The reason is the exhuast on the gt500 is like breathing through a straw. Its all restricted for emissions and crap.
