Default Somewhat dissapointed.

So tonight i went to the drag strip with my friends and took the car down the track. first run i really ****ed up my launch and ran a 16.02...ouch! the next run i ran a 15.82. spinning the wheels in first, i launched too high. my next run i decided to launch it at 1200 rpm and i ran a 15.324. so i am kinda dissapointed but it was also a 88 degree night, and during the day it was 100.

15.3 isn't bad for an auto with your mods. Get a tune and you'll be in the 14s easy.

You dropped nearly 7/10ths off your first run - don't be disappointed with that. Racing at the track is a combination of fun, adrenaline, excitement, skill, and frustration. Mastering your car is a challenge. Once you get things down (launch, RPMs, shifts, etc), then you'll make a change to go faster like adding drag radials, and you have to relearn the car all over again. But time at the track is time well-spent IMO, especially if you meet up with people who are equally spun out on Stangs.

Congrats Dwisforme05 on getting to the track 15.32 for your first time out andis not bad at all in that weather you should not be dissapointed. The car is capable ofmid 14's to possiblelow 14's (gear & LSD, LCA’s etc)with the following mods below. I ran if I remember correctly I ran 14.60's N/A on just a B-ama 93 Racetune, TI CAI and dual exhaust.

1.Tune preferably 93 octane
2.TI or C& L CAI
3. Less restrictive Muffler (MRT's are know to work well 10 -12 rwhp)
4. Air up your front tires & left rearto 50lb for track only, I think I went 50-55lb at my own risk
5.Turn off traction control and OD
6. Do not hot leap when you get to the track let the car cool down and after each run
7. Of course weather plays a big roll but also your elevation.
8. Of course try not to spin off the line tomuchand do not go in the water box go around and just spin the tires a tiny bit to clean before you stage,
9. Take out you spare and keep the trunk empty and run around 1/4 tank of gas.

You times will improve!

Considering your first time out don't be disappointed, learn a few tricks of the trade like TJ just mentioned and some driving experience and you will shave considerable time on a consistent basis, keep your chin up and keep trying, learning and excelling.

Just a quick question. How do you launch in an auto? Just hold the brake and gas at low rpms? Or do you neutral bomb it? (Put it in N, rev it and throw it in D)

Hell no you never do a neutral drop, just hold the brakes rev it till you find a comfortable rpm range before you start braking loose hold it there and then when the green light comes let go of the brake and floor it.

Beast - brake, rev up to about 1500 or so (practice will tell you what you need) at the last yellow lightlift off the brake and hit the gas -- after some practice you will be able to determine what works best for you and your car in terms of rpm and how much gas to launch with. (Lapeer is little tricky because the track prep isn't always the best and I tend to spin coming out - but maybe with the Tlok and gears I will have a little more luck). See you at Lapeer on the 25th!
Neutral bomb is probably the right way to say it since you will start to leave parts behind you!

And Cameron -- glad you were able to make it to the track finally, wish you could have joined us at Lapeer before you moved.

thanks for the support guys, yeah i got about 5 runs in, and when i launched at 15-2000 my spires spun, so i dont know if i warmed up the tire enough. but i ran my front tires with 43psi in them and the rear i had 32psi. i went with overdrive off, and tcs off. i was really pissed too cuz on that 15.3 run i went to get my ticket but the printer was backed up so they gave me someone elses ticket that said 13.2 so i knew that wasnt right but when i went back they already gave my ticket away to someone else. luckily my buddy saw what a ran. but thanks again for the help everyone. im gonna waite till i get my tune to go back. but WOW what an adrenalin rush!
