Alright guys, quick question....what is granny shifting and double clutching and how do you do it. Im pretty sure I kno but i would like to know for sure.......

 

Granny shifting is when you shift as carefully as possible as to put the least ammount of strain on your car.

Double clutching is when you push in the clutch, put the car in neutral, pull the clutch out (while in neutral), put the clutch back in and shift into the next gear.

 

Double clutching is for transmissions without syncro's. It is where when you change gears you release the clutch when in neutral, push it back in, put it in gear and release the clutch again - therefore double clutching it.

 

+1 and while you are in neutral you rev her up one time and then put it in gear and release the clutch.

 

Whats the point?

 

Gets the gears synronized so you can change gears.

 

Why do you ask? Did you just get done watching fast and the furious? [8D]

 

all you need to know is, try not to do the former during a race, and you don't have to do the latter unless you're driving an 18 wheeler lol...

 

okay i asked this earlier but what happens when you just down shift without double clutching? doesnt it bang the transmission

 

WTF? Why would you EVER double clutch in a car? Geez - I like to use the clutch as little as possible...lol
