Buying used

RE: Buying used
I'd get a manual, but I have two problems:
A wife and a bad left knee .
That's an awesome price you got. Out the door price though, I'm trying to shoot for $20k.

I recently got my '07 GT deluxe new for $22.5k ($24.6k out the door) from Ken Grody in Buena Park,CA. It was an ad car, so keep our eye on the ads; you might be able to swing a good deal (I could have gotten it for even $750 less with the Ford loyalty bonus, but I've never owned a Ford before). Pretty much the only extra features it has are 3.55 gears and the shaker 500. But my only requirement was the 3.55 gears anyway, so it was exactly what I wanted!
But to answer your original question, see if you can get one with minimal drivetrain/transmission clunk. Mine has a noticeable clunk when shifting, but from what I've heard it is somewhat normal. But you may have to worry less about that if you are getting an auto. Btw, I would recommend a manual... much more fun imo!

Oh, gotcha; I read a motor trend article for the 2005 GT that got like a 5.1s or 5.3s 0-60 time out of the auto, so the manuals really aren't that much quicker anyway.
I was also considering used before I bought mine, but even a decent used 2005 is hard to come by for under $20k, and since I started to see the 2007GTs for only a few thousand more in the paper, it was pretty easy to justify buying new.

Make sure its still under manufactures warranty, then once you buy it go through it with a fine tooth comb list everything that doesnt seem right, also drive the car for a couple weeks to make sure theres nothing else to add to the list!!

RE: Buying used
I bought an '05 GT Premium w/9,000 miles this past May for $23,500. Real nice, satin silver w/the red interior. It's stock for now, but I'm saving for some mods.
I've been the new car route too many times in the past. Now it's my turn to take advantage of someone else paying for the depreciation. [sm=goodidea.gif]

I know; I was just pointing out the difference is pretty minimal.

4.9 sec with the manual!
4.9 sec with the manual!
Not sure if you realize it but to gain a 6% improvement in 0 to 60 or ¼ mile is huge number when it comes to acceleration. As an example, if you had a stock Mustang that turns 13.5 in the ¼ mile and you improve the number by 6% you would be down to 12.69. To drop almost a second off the ¼ mile is a really big number. Some folks spend thousands of dollars to drop a second if they are lucky!

I think it's only 4%: 4.9 / 5.1 = 96%
But it's more than I thought i suppose when I first looked at the base numbers, 4.9 vs 5.1. I think many would agree that 4% is pretty minimal nonetheless. Not sure is I would spend thousands of $$ to make my car 4% faster, unless I were a billionaire or something. Oh wait, then I would just buy a Murcielago!

I used 5.2 for my example.
