No, motor mounts are not replaced. They do lift the motor a bit to put in the LTs, but I don't know why they would say you need mounts.

depends on what brand of L/T's you are getting. I had to put motor mounts on my car for JBA L/T's. you can get them from steeda or FRPP. steeda are the most expensive that i have seen...of course, they were the only ones that had them when i got my L/T's.

Although not absolutely necessary, I upgraded to a tubular K-member with integrated motor mounts when I had the Bassani long tubes put in.

Ok, I'm confused.............I thought you had to "lower" the engine a bit for many longtube products???

I'm looking into this as well because I intend full exhaust to be my next project.......and that will include LT's.

some long tube headers need stiffer motor mounts because of the "play" in the tubes. with my kooks install, i didnt need them, but I wanted to keep my engine planted better for speed shifting. i reccomend them for anyone into performance mods. any aftermarket mounts are MUCH better than stock hydra mounts. my installer showed me the differnce in the two, i could easily move the stock mounts with a push of a finger, and my bbr ones would just barely move.the only reason ford did this is to keep vibrations down and keep the ride smooth.

So your just saying to just spend the 150 dollars for the motor mounts to be on the safe side?

Yea, I'd definitely recommend some stiffer aftermarket mounts anyways.....especially if you're doing a performance build up on your car. The mounts, combined with my K-member/transmission brace made a big difference in the accuracy of my shifts. Plus, it's really cool to be able to actually "feel" the motor in this car..........something that wasn't possible with the stock hydra mounts. If I wanted that much smoothness in my ride.....I woulda bought a Lincoln.
