GT500 cluster on gt

RE: GT500 cluster on gt
I read in another forum that the dealer has to UNLOAD all the data from your current cluster (except mileage which comes already from warehouse) and then program it into new cluster. This ensures the speedo, tach, etc read correctly for you car. I would like to get the GT500 cluster ... but don't want the dead boost gauge sitting in there.

Clusters on the 05-08 Stangs are stand-alone beasts
that communicate via a two wire buss with the rest of
the vehicle. Totally different pig than the old Clusters
of days past when shadetrees could switch and swap.
Dealer must get involved so add their time to the $$
aspect of the swap and not all guages/shift lights will
be functional. It would be a non-functional appearance
only swap??

RE: GT500 cluster on gt
yeah i am on that thread a couple times!! ranting about VSOP!!
It can be a swap without the dealer getting involved! I did my "my color" upgrade without a trip to the dealer.....you can plug it and and make sure it works, if the milage is already set and it works then you are done. If the milage is not correct or the speedo is off then take it in to the dealer.....but I have done the 2 gauge to my color upgade....you can look for the many threads on the board about that if you want.
