I know some people will change their filter every 10-15k, but I waited to 25k and regret it. Ford schedule says every 30k but that seems too long. Had to oredr the filter from local Advance auot parts bu was cheap at $7.00. Puralator filter that claims to meet or exceed OEM standards. Filter is located under car about even with driverside door. Black shroud of plastic obscures it from easy few. Took about 30minutes but next time should be less than 20. Very easy to get off once shroud taken off. Has 2 quick connecting green "tabs" that do not require any tools to remove. Car just felt a little sluggish prior to changing but feels better since change. probably in my head but did start to pick-up some milege(.10 mpg hooray) inshort 6 mile drive. Easy on ramps and 10mm socket. Likely need a deep seated socket for 2 nuts but may be able to get with wrench.
i've not seen one of these filters..... can you
see any debris when you look at the used
filter
I didn't see any debris. Pretty standard looking filter with intake side then filter then output side. I may crack it open tomorrow and take a look but didn't really have time to today
Has anyone invested in the K&N drop in filter for the stock air box? Any difference in performance?

Yeah, have one...bought it strictly as an alternative to buying a new one each time...I never expect to get anything out of a filter and therefore am never surprised when I don't. I could not feel one iota of difference...BUT I don't have to buy a new one next time I need to clean it!
