Vert worth it? Topless or not

RE: Vert worth it? Topless or not
once in a great while I might get a little more dusting on my face than I would have if I was driving a coupe. But I blink it out every time. everything else outweighs the bad and makes the driving a vert a great experience.
Verts are inherentlymore expensive, but nowadays every dealer has a couple or more, including one with pony packages. you can talk them down, especially sixers, just like u can a coupe.
In nice weather I love that open feeling.
I don't mind the fact that can stare at me in traffic. Hell they stare at me at Walmart. Maybe I'm just that good looking! And on a quiet day they can here me sing along Czech polkas. Come to think of it, maybe I'M the reason why you tinted your windows!

My vert performs quite well; great power, great handling (corners like a go-cart) and great looks.

Coupe for performance. Vert for tail.

If you think you'd like a convertible, you owe it to yourself to own at least one during your lifetime.
We love our convertible. It was worth the extra bucks to us.
I think Mustang coupes are great too. Hey, they're Mustangs so ya can't beat 'em.
As you can see in this thread, it all boils down to your personal preference.
You'll love whichever Mustang you chose.
Good luck.

When I saw this hood on a yellow GT vert I kinda wished I'd gone that way!
Just didn't care for the claustraphobia with the roof up. Or the burned scalp from having the top down on too many hot days!

Well, I figure I'd pitch in here as well. I had never had a vert until this car and was going through quite a debate myself when ordering it. I agree that the lines of a coupe look much, much better compared to a vert that has it's top up. When the top is down, I think it's a little bit of a different story. Not that I think the vert looks better, just different, in a good way. And I figure when I'm in the car with the top up I don't see the lines anyway, so what does it matter to me.
Obviously, I chose the convertible in the end, and I love it. I'll admit there are days where I don't feel like having people being able to look in at me, and those are the days I put the top up, roll up my darkly tinted windows, and ignore the world. But on the right, beatutiful day, there's nothing like crusing with the top down.
But like everyone said, it's personal preference! Good luck with your decision!

Absolutely a personal preference. My daily driver is a Pontiac Solstice, so I like convertibles, too.
At first I was a little worried about it. I had heard all sorts of horror stories about it being too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter, even with the top up. It's just not true.
Yeah, there is more wear and tear on a cloth top than on a metal top. These last years, though! I have an automatic and I don't live in fear that it might break down, costing me more to fix than a manual transmission. (Oh, no, I might have to spend money repairing a part every 10 years or so!) Your car will either be paid off or traded in before you'll need to replace anything on your top.
As far as rollover concerns, I looked it up and roll overs in convertibles are actually pretty uncommon. The cars are low to the ground, you have to be working hard to roll them over.
Convertible rollovers are what you might call a low risk/high consquence situation. As you might imagine when a convertible does rollover there is much higher likelihood of injury and death. The insurance on my 2005 Focus was actually $15 MORE per month than on my 2006 Pontiac Solstice. That should tell you a lot about how "risky" insurance companies think driving a convertible is...
As far as people looking at you. I don't know what to say. It makes driving a lot more personal. I love driving a convertible. Open air driving is a wonderful experience. Visibility is awesome, too!
For me, it comes down to looks and cost. I LOVE the way the Mustang convertible looks with top down. It's also far less common to see a Mustang GT convertible. I see 05+ Mustangs everyday, but it's not everyday I see a GT convertible. That said, I don't really like the way it looks with the top up, it messes up the lines of the car. The vert was also several thousand more than the coupe.

Yes - Look at that thread - No one else had the problem - it was isolated. What's your point?

I like the open air. Favorite drive is over the Newport RI bridge. Feels like flying. I'm not self conscious to care if anyone is looking at me or if my hair is mussed up. Simply twist my long hair and put it in the "claw." I have a great pair of wrap sunglasses. No worries!
I store my convertible in the winter and break out the Subaru. Best of both worlds.
