I would go with the stick. A standard is more durable than an auto and they have less parasitic loss of power to the rear wheels. A standard is faster if you know how to drive it correctly. You just have to figure how what type of driving you will be doing most of the time and which one suit you best.

5 speed. even if you can't shift as fast as an auto, its just more fun.

i live in so cal, sometimes traffic can suck like nowhere else, but its rare that i find my self in bumper to buper stuff for long periods of time. if hour long communtes in traffic are normal for you then convince yourself that it ain't that bad and get the stick anyway. call it excersise or something.

Ya know....with the manual, it won't matter about the traffic....cause you'll be out ahead of it with your gt! lol but if constant shifting does get annoying to you then i guess u could go for an auto

I drove both, and bought the 5spd...manual. Since the auto is a 5spd as well, it preformed very well. I don't get stuck in stop and go traffic here much. But if I did, I would do the auo, if the Tang is an every day car. My prefered choice, stick Tang, beater with auto. Around here (Indy), when traffic gets heavy, someone is always running into somebody. Let them hit the beater !!

Get the stick. No question about it! It is faster, if you now how to drive. Even if you don't, if you have a stick, you can always learn. The auto is always an auto!

need some input iam ordering a gt but can not decide 5spd manual or automatic need lots of pros and cons for both thanks guys
I'm not trying to start a war between Stick and Auto but the stereo types that people had about auto's are not true today. There is a huge difference between the 04 auto and an 05 auto besides an extra gear. Most people who would say a stick is the way to go have never driven an 05 auto. Also after a re-flash the auto is even closer to a stick (that includes re-flashing the stick too). A stock auto has already been 14.09 on a slick track and hot day. The stick has been between a 13.80 and 13.90. Also there is the gear difference. The stick car has a 3.55 gear and the auto has a 3.31. So once both cars are re-flashed and both have 4.10 gears there really is not much difference. Also I have posted before that there is a difference in the gear ratios in the trans itself. A stick starts out in first with a 3.38 and then goes to a 2.00 in second. An auto starts out with a 3.28 and goes to a 2.22 in second so the RPM's stay way up higher in an auto than they do in a stick which should give the auto a huge advantage off the line to the 60 ft mark. After that the auto takes over again with quicker shifts. Sure 20 to 25 HP makes a difference but after the mods it's tit for tat. I'll let everyone know when I run mine at the track this March.

I won't chime in on which is better, I drive in rush hour traffic in and out of Chicago on a daily basis and my 05 GT is a stick. The reason I got the stick was not that it was faster but just more fun to drive for me personally. I would say make your decision based on what you might think would derive the most enjoyment. I've owned both and I find the stick more enjoyable for me.
