Default The truth about flash tunes.

Can the dealer tell if you have had an aftermarket tune on your computer? If you swap the new tune with the stock tune before you go to the dealer, can they still tell you have had an aftermaket tune on your car's computer? I've heard that the only thing the dealer can tell is that there has been a reset of some sort, that could even be caused by disconnecting the battery terminals.

With today's computers, I'm surprised there isn't some log file somewhere of the previous tunes.

What's the real scoop?

I've read through many of the posts and I haven't found an answer to my basic question.

Has anyone been told by the dealer that they can tell you've had an after market tune installed even if youswapped it withthe stock tune before you went into the dealer?

All they can read is that the computer was reset. If they ask, tell them your battery went dead.

Wish we weren't so rude sometimes.....

I have heard basically the same thing.....the only thing the dealer can "tell" is that there has been a "reset" of sorts.....easily explained with a battery reconnect.

I'd be more worried about when they start accessing the little black box when we go in for warranty work...

This is something different?

Maybe the kid that figured out how to hack an iPhone should work on a way to hack the memory on a Mustang......
