About every other time I open my trunk, it makes this very loud popping noise. Sounds like the little "pusher" is going really fast, over and over. It lasts for about 3 seconds, but is very loud and embarassing. Anyone have knowledge of this?

At first it sounded like maybe the plastic lining your trunk area may have been getting hung up on something, but then you said it sounds like it is mechanical, I have no idea! Sry

We had a similar thing with my wife's Focus. If it is a very loud "buzz" when you hit the release, then have the dealer adjust your trunk. After several trips back with the Focus we finally asked them to check the alignment - turned out it was a small mis alignment and the release was binding up. Since they realigned the trunk lid a couple ofmonths back no more problems.

Is it something I could do myself? Because even though my car is still under warranty, I really don't want them snooping around.

I don't know if you could do it yourself - I leftthe Focuswith the dealerover a 2 day periodto work on it and get it adjusted properly. It took them time to make small adjustments and test it several times until they believed it was fixed (they said they really didn't want my wife bringing it back again for the same problem).
