Ok, let me just say i am seriously an idiot.

Im driving ona wide open empty road where the speed limit is 65. After coming from a light i just shift into 3rd gear going roughly 30 mph and a grand prix GTP with exhaust and im assuming a few other mods because it wasnt that slow. Now i didnt turn the bottle on or anything (thank god)... because well its a grand prix.
He revs and takes off, i assume his auto downshifted into second because we were going slow but i just stomped it in 3rd. He jumped about a half car ahead until my rpms finally rise and i begin to pass him. Now im at the top of 3rd, roughly a car or two ahead and i go to shift to fourth....heres why im an idiot.... not only do i miss fourth, i slam it into SECOND!!!!! Yes i know, i am a moron. The rear end starts sliding, the rpms are bouncing, and im about to **** myself. I quickly put the clutch in and slow down then put it in 5th. Now thank GOD i was not spraying at the time because i would have inevitable f u cked somthing up. I am very lucky i didnt...or did i? The car runs fine, smooth, idles smooth and shifts smooth. I still hope i didnt do anything to it though. Yes, im an idiot..............anyone ever done anything like this before?

 

I did it twice in one day at the track. I have decent reaction time though, so I got the clutch back in before the back end even fully locked up.

Nothing like running 13.4 at 88mph.

 

Everything was ok though? Lol alittle paranoid ahhahahah

 

What did the grand prix do? Did he have to swerve,or did he just keep on going?
P.s Good thing nothing real bad happened though !

 

HE just kept going. Luckely when it locked up he past before that. I slowed down quite a bit before it broke loose.

 

haha....i have done that before trying to pass someone when i was in 5th i went to second at around 40.....well my car was in the passing lane pretty quick i willl say that.....totally jumped over and then i got it in 4th....i am sure guy i was passing almost pissed his pants!

 

The car was perfectly fine, save for a little clutch smell.

 

ive done this on I-4.. but downshifted into 2nd at 50 or 60.. thinking it would be the prime gear.. well.. that for me is inbetween gears.. 3rd, i bog down to much.. and 2nd im red line allready.. so i kina fcked up there before.. but as far as going into second from third.. i dunno if i have or not.. must not have been that bad since i dont remember..

hope everythings cool.. im sure it is.. and if you did spray when you made that mistake, i can imagine the loss of control you had, being ALOT worse ending in a wreck or spining out.. thank God for that!

 

I did it in a viper passing a bus.

 

Good Lord! Memories! My first car, 65 mustang, converted the 3 speed to a auto with a shift kit and saturday night special torque convert! 3rd night of having it i was playing the radio loud and forgot i had the auto! I was doing around 40 and slammed it in REVERSE! Blew out the rear..... spider gears were all over the road! I cried massive tears! The worst part of the whole thing is i blew it up right in front of a police station. the cop fined me for contaminants (sp?)on the road! I cried some more!
