Need Advice
I am reaching out to my fellow Mustang owners for advice. I have a 2005 GT convertible. While washing it, I noticed a small hole in the top. The hole was right after the first joint (starting from the windshield) where there is a bolt on the driver side. I looked at the passanger side and saw that it was very warn in the same area.
So I checked around and found the TSB's that deal with issues of the top getting warn. The one that I came across appears to be TSB 06-22-16. This mentions a wear hole near the 4th bow or the number 1 bow area. I feel this is it.
I made an appointment at the local Ford dealer, I was told that after 3 people looked at it they only saw typical wear on the top and could not find any hole. I will be going there in the morning to show them the hole (believe me there is one). I know I should have put tape or something on it to point it out, but who knows what that may have brought out (like the tape ate through the top).
Anyway, I am looking on the best way I can get ready for what seems as if it may be a battle to get something fixed under warranty. A top should not wear through after 2 years and 8000 miles on a car kept in a garage. I am willing to accept the 5 - 7 years as part of routine maintenance.
Right now I am pissed at what appears to be idiots and am calling into question having to deal with Ford for the long haul.
I won't mention the thoughts about purchasing another car from another manufacturer, but do want some advice on how to approach this with the service manager, without having to rent a truck with nitrogen rich fertilizer and parking it close by, if you know what I mean. Thanks.

The TSB does says that "This is caused by the number
1 and number 4 bow wearing or pinching throughthe vinyl or cloth top"....so even if they say is wear...its covered. However, if they don't see the hole, then that's a different story. Try taking it to another dealer and tell the new dealer how crappy the previous one was....new guys love to hear the dirt on others...
