RE: Best Synthetic Oil/Filter
Man, I sure dont know why the moderator doesnt make this question a sticky.
This question pops up a zillion times and the replies (many)are always mixed.
The type of oil you use will depend on how you will be driving your car, where you live geographically and whether your car is N/A or F/I. Then the only way to tell if the oill and filter you selected is right for your car is through a UOA (used oil analysis) I recommend Dyson Labs. http://www.dysonanalysis.com/
Here is some reading that will help you with your oil and oil filter selection.
http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/blowby.html- select an oil that has a good amount of moly added.

Theres a lot more info out there than what I've posted here.
I use 5w20 Redline for the additive package (Moly, PH and Zinc) I also use an EAO-11 Amsoil Oil Filter plus a 300lb FilterMag on the filter. I only change my oil twice a year though at 7500miles, 15000 miles total.
The most impotant thing, regardless ofwhat oil you use, is to get the engine oil up to an operating temperature of 212 deg before pulling out of the driveway. This is where the viscosity is at 10cs and will lubricate the engine properly. For a daily driver.

RE: Best Synthetic Oil/Filter
Unless I made some huge power increases with a supercharger and a lot of boost and planned to run it hard in the summer heat all the time, I cant see not using the Motorcraft semi-synthetic 5w20 that Ford puts in there new cars and use the Motorcraft filter.
Its all I have ever used in my 07 GT and its never used a drop nor gave any kind of trouble, and I have Ford change it at 3.000 mile intervals. But as said, there are thousands of oppinions out there and you have to wade through it all I guess. I seem to be in the minority as far as running what Ford tested to be the best for our engines, old age is most likely the cause.

you have to be careful with the royal purprle, the weight is rated in some weird way so say you bought 5w-30, it'd be more like a 5w-20, very thin, my car was not feeling it, and it got dirty fast. I use mobil one or castrol
