Default RE: CAI/Tune Package Question

Whats up all, new guy here so be gentle. I am checking into what mods to do first, SC to come next summer, but want to get some gains till then.

But......

I checked out the dyno thread : https://mustangforums.com/m_2625816/tm.htm
And the spreadsheet attached : http://home.comcast.net/~swieduwilt01/Mustangforums_Dynos.xls

There are 4 stock GT runs on the list and they average out to ~ 269.75 rwhp and ~ 288.25 rwtq

There are 4 GT's with justCAI + Tune (various venders) and they average out to ~ 277 rwhp and~ 289 rwtq

This is virtually no gain if you look just at the numbers....

So were those just really stout stock GT's or what?

Most stock manuals are around 260-265, autos 10HP less and most cai/tune combos from Brenspeed, B amachips, VMP or Evo will net you 25+ with 93 oct. Its as simple as that.

I see the highest stock car with no cai/tune is 276.98, not 288.25

Mustang dynos will dyno lower numbers generally also....and all dynosare slightly different.

Get and CAI/tune then come back and tell us there is no gain

I believe my CAI/Tune dyno is still listed in that spreadsheet at 277rwhp - but that was with a Mustang Dyno. There were a lot of people posting their DynoJet dyno's. I dont recall, does the spreadsheet differentiate between which types of Dynos? Also, I was using a 92-octane tune; some had 93 or 89, etc.

However, it is true that you could expect about 22 to 25rwhp gain with this combo. If you do get this combo and want to know what your car gained then you could do a before/after Dyno right there on the spot (while your car is still on the roller) as this is aneasy mod to install. However, another benefit of this combo is the driveability. I had the Brenspeed tune & C&L (Street) CAI for only a couple of weeks but I thought it was pretty great.

yeah i noticed your 277 and it lists the dynos...its a good sheet but i think is misleading at times.....there is a 307 with cai/tune and nothing else and it looks like a "canned" diablosport tune......that just aint happening, sorry

Default RE: CAI/Tune Package Question

The 288.25 was an avg rwtq number for the stock cars. Dynos were done on dynojet and mustang and others. I guess all i'm saying is that we have a sample of 8 cars that dyno'd within a few hp of each other, which is what you could expect from running eight identical cars on different dyno's at different temps, elevations, octane levels, etc.

But if you guys are saying the drivability and fun factor are worth it alone then I'llgo with that.

Thanks for the info.

I'm running an auto and surprisingly after getting the tune, shifting became a lot smoother than it used to be. But like most people said it's better if you get both to get the most out of it
