RE: CAI/Tune Package Question
Most of the difference that you can feel is made by teh tune itself, but teh CAI aso plays a key role. Saw on another forum where one guy dyno-ed his mustang three ways: stock, tune only, and tune with CAI. tune only resulted in a 12 HP increase, tune w/CAI resulted in about 20-25 hp increase.
Main advantage of buying a CAI from teh likes of Brenspeed or B amachips is that you can get a discount on getting the two at teh same time. You can't really run the car on a CAI without a tune, and most people who I've seen who get teh tune first, end up getting teh CAI later and paying more than the initial package offer.
Yeah, I know I don't have mine yet, looking at ordering a C&L Racer & tunes from VMP, just been doing a lot of research

How much of a difference does the CAI really make? Is the tune enough to make a large difference? What is the benefit of the CAI from somewhere like Brenspeed?

RE: CAI/Tune Package Question
swoosh is right. i just email brenspeed the same question friday. he said the tune makes the car run better but cai almost doubles the hp gain of the tune. he also said if you buy from them and get the cai later the new tunes would be free.

RE: CAI/Tune Package Question
Right after I bought my 07 GT in mid 06 I bought the Brenspeed tunes with the SCTxcal2 tuner and a C&L CAI along with a set of Pypes axelback mufflers. I had to relearn driving the car it was so different. The second you touch the gas, you KNOW its way better.
And there is no wondering, " gee is it better " or trying to convince your self you didnt blow your money, its the best performance modification you can do for your Mustang period for the money spent.
And the gas mileage goes way up. I run the 93 octane tune here in San Antonio, and now get an easy 20 mpg in the city gassing it when ever I can. On the high wayI run 80 mph every where I can, and get 25 to 26 mpg all the time. I have never has a single problem in over 20.000 miles, and could never go back to stock.
Oh ya, with stock tires and stock everything execpt for the parts mentioned and a Hurst Short Throw shifter, I run consistant low 13 second quarters, and once I lucked out on the starting line and didnt blow the tires away like an idiot, I ran a 12.89 quarter mile @ 109 mph. I have a 5 speed manual and 3:55 gears. Get the parts man!!
