Default Shaker 500 Rant

Ok, I know all about the problems with the Shaker 500/1000; the skip all the time, shut off for no reason, etc.

I've replaced my head unit three times already. The most recent being back in July.

Now this week when I've started up my car with a CD in the stereo, it won't even start playing. The timer will go, but sound coming out of the speakers, I'll try to shut off the stereo, but it won't turn off.

This is really frustrating because I'm paying for the car for another few years, I just want my g*d@mn stereo to play my CDs with no problems. I don't have the funds available to just go get an aftermarket stereo. I really want a fricking stereo that works from the factory.

I'm calling the dealership tomorrow to set up a time to bring my care in so they can take a look at it, etc. etc. etc.

What do you guys think?

I'd get it replaced then go out and buy a good aftermarket unit. Then when you get rid of the car you can either put the shaker back in and put the aftermarket radio in the new car or just dump the aftermarket unit

this might be a bit off topic, but my shaker saved in memory, somehow, the settings to this one CD. now whenever i put other CD's in, it plays it like it's reading from that one disc. it uses that discs file structure. it skips to the middle of tracks, and names all the track titles the ones off the disc it saved.

i swear, its always something w/ this car....

i love the stang, but i pray the next car is a vette.

Only had to replace mine once. It skips every now and then, but for the most part it works fine.

I was lucky. I had my first S197 for two years and no problems with the Shaker 500. When I bought my second Stang I did not buy it with the Shaker. I put ina good aftermarket HU and it is so much better than the Shaker. Bite the bullet and spend a little money; you will not be dissapointed.

I have not had one problem with my shaker 500 (07 GT)

Although I only use the satelite radio and ipod hook up. Why not just get an mp3 player?

I thought I was the only one that had problems with the shaker 500...

Had the unit replaced a week ago, radio was good but read cd's and said "bad disc" ???

Might go after an aftermarket soon but don't know what one is good for our stangs?

I have yet to stick a CD into the Shaker 500, so I'll never know if it works since I have used either the iPhone or my wife's iPod to play music in ours.
SO much nicer than using (and storing) CDs.
