Default starting procedures...

lately ive been getting in, putting the key in, waiting for the beeps to stop, then starting the engine... for some reason it seems to run smoother when i do this as opposed to just sitting down inserting key and cranking it... I noticed that sometimes the engine runs rough, most of the time it is silky smooth, but I think this fixes it... My camaro did the exact same thing, and a mechanic buddy o mine said choke was sticking... probably all in my head... who knows... anyone else do this?

I always do that. Put in the key, wait a few seconds then start. I have done that with every car I have ever owned. I think my dad told me to do that way back when I 1st started to drive.

Im pretty sure thats in your head. The only car/truck that you should do that is to diesel's, so that the glow plugs heat up before cranking. Doesnt make any difference in the mustang.

Ive always thought the fuel pump and maybe other stuff will get started when the key is turned before the car is staarted up? Thats why some cars you can hear a buzz when you turn the first clicks, before the car is actually started?

Yea.. I always thought it was for the fuel pump. In a lot of older cars you used to be able to hear the fuel pump click on. I dont hear anything in the mustang though.
