Default multi-purpose thread

got the car back today finally. the car still whines a little, the mechanic said it was the tranny now, not the gears. dunno if i agree, but oh well. he went ahead and put full synthetic mobil brand tranny fluid in all for free which was real nice of him. it did quiet down some, but not entirely. also, the fluid that came out (the oem stuff) was burnt real nasty. no vibrations now, and it runs well. he said everything was checked, miced (miked?), dialed, painted for pattern, etc... and it is dead on, and i do believe him. if it becomes an issue i know he'll take care of it too, but for now i'll have to live with some noise. it whines in forth from 35-45, and then around 70 it whines in 4th and 5th up until about 85.

so thats that.

next topic. i have some cool pics i wanna share. how do i get them to show up in the thread so you don't have to click or anything. if it needs to be linked from somewhere how do i do that?

I didnt like Mobil 1 in my tranny. Clunked more than OEM fluid. Red line fixed it, you may want to look into that.

Also, I dont like what you said about the OEM fluid being nasty and burnt. When I changed my tranny fluid at 9K miles, it was still bright red and nice looking. That does not seem good if your fluid had undergone some sort of friction problem that eventually burned it fairly quickly.

on the first part.....glad ya got the car back
finally, sorry it still has some noise. this is kinda
why i'm hesitant to mess with the diff.

on the second part.....yeah, you got to have some
web site host the pic(s) and then you use the add image
commmand to have it show up in the thread....

ya i think the issue i had on my fluid was the first gear install causing hte driveshaft to vibrate which probably stressed the hell outta the tranny too. the mobil syn seems better, i notice no clunks, but i will for sure consider the redline for the next one.

as for the image hosting, fork that =)

With the pics, there are two ways of doing it:

1) Have the pics already uploaded to a Web host like photobucket and then have a link (if you delete your pics from the Web hosting server then your posts with the linked pictures will show-up in the thread as a red X)

2) Upload the pics from your desktop and check the box that says to embed the picture. So, there'll be the clicky and the pic embeded into the post and wont turn into a red X (I like this method better so as that future readers can see the pics that were posted)

Did you say that you drive 35 mph in fourth gear, or did I read the thread wrong.
