Default Push Start Button

Hey gang! In a fit of boredom, I decided to wire up a push-start button in place of my 12V ac outlet. The project went well and it works prefectly, with one exception.... When I start via the button, I get a brief "oil pressure low" warning. When I start with the key, I get no such message.

Im thinking there is another process in the key start mechanism that is missed by pressing the button. Anyone else with a push-start button have this problem?

Thanks so much! If anyone has a suggestion or a work around, I would be really grateful!

By the way, this is on an 07 GT manual.

Thanks!

Do you still have to put the key in the ignition? If so what's the point?

Yup, the key still goes in the ignition.

To answer your question; there really is no point other than a entertaining project and a nifty gadget. I would compare it to any kind of appearance mod.... it's just somthing I enjoy looking at.

Thurman, PM me when you get it in, would ya? I would love to know if you get the same oil message.

When looking at the guage, it moves in the exact same fashion when using the button and the key. I.E., it takes about 2 seconds to read normal oil pressure. The only difference is when using the button, I get a warning message. Weird. I wonder if the key relay has a additional connection which disables the message lights for a brief period of time????
