Just ordered mine from Late Model Restoration... Should I expect to see that message? How long does it stay up? So, I still need to put the key in the ignition, right?

Yeah, you should expect to see the warning light. The low oil warning will light up if you put the key in, turn it to the on position and dont press the button for a bit. It only lasts for a second or two. I actually figured out what causes this..... and it's a fairly easy concept. The key, when turned to start, freezes the oil guage just long enough for the engine to build pressure and send a signal. When using the button, this doesnt happen. The computer sends the last known reading to the guage, but then it falls to actual oil pressure (actually, it's an arbitrary reading that really does nothing other than suggest there "is" pressure). So, it's essentially a symptom of the computer being confused. No big deal.... and you will learn how to make it not happen.
