MORON!
Instead of doing this mod myself, which I could have done in 90 minutes with my air tools, aginst my better judgement, I let the shop next to my office do it. (The same shop that did my driveshaft install without issue).
For only $70, I let them install all 4 Rotorpros rotors and front Akebono ceramic pads. I chose these over Hawk due the far superiorcustomer reviewsI read on The Tire Rack's website. When I was driving the car home I noticed the car was not stopping as well as when stock.I thought, isn't it supposed to bebetter than stock? I figured I just needed to seat the pads more.
20 miles later, when I got home I washed the car and then took a closer look at the front brakes. Hmm, what is that charcoal, grey-black stuff caked in parts of the slots of the rotors?? I wiped it with my finger and it was kind of gritty smooth. Maybe this is what ceramic pads do? Hmm, but why are the back of the pads so clean, with no anti squeal lube on them??
Then it hit me. The MORON put the included graphite lube that came with the pads on the surface of the pads instead of the back, against the calipers!
So basically I was driving with grease on my brakes. Yesterday I took apart the front brakes and cleaned the rotors and pads with Afta and some Orange Clean degreaser. I just went for drive and needless to say it's much better now.
Lesson number 1, if you want something done right, to hell with the convenience,do it yourself.
Lesson number 2, don't assume that everyone with a southern accent was born with a wrench in their hand, and an in depth knowledge of automobiles.

man that sucks I have R1concept rotors on the way and will be doing them myself along with my ss lines. I elected to stay away from the ceramic pads due to thier being hard on rotors. When I do take it in its only shops that come recommended by a small group of people here that I work with.
see $70 is so darn tempting, why would anyone
want to get all dirty and greazy to save $70.
thanks for sharing the story, it adds fuel to why
we should do just about everything, ourselves

That's gotta be the dumbest thing I've heard lately....Sometimes you just have to shake your head.
Lucky you didn't need to make any panic stops before you found it.
I also love my Akebonos on my Explorer and Escape. Waiting on the Mustang till I get a few more miles on her.

it could've been a lawsuit, but since there was no consequences you can't really do ish. if you want it done right get it done yourself is one thing i realized when i went to firestone to balance my front tires and as soon as i left the shop one of the weights fell off and got stuck between the rim and the caliper and was making a funny noise. if it didn't get stuck there i would probably be driving with unbalanced tires without even knowing. eversince then, i even do the oil changes myself
