Noob here. Just wanted to know if the 2005 Mustangs can Handle power like the 2003 cobras and how much HP will the Kenne bell supercharger make for the 2005 mustang? (im trying to decide if I should get a 2003 cobra or a 2005 mustang).

haha, yeah. But If the new mustangs engine is the same as the cobras, just without the supercharger, I may go for an 05.. But I dont think they are the same 4.6 right? Not to mention the 05s only come with a 5 speed.

 

The internals in a 05 Mustang are not forged, the cobra's are. The 03-04 cobras can take a lot more hp, stock. The new 05 3v motor will certainly take boost well, possibly as good or better than an 03-04 cobra motor, but you are still limited to the powdered metal connecting rods, as far as your max hp goes.

 

So my next question is since the 03-04 cobra engines are forged, does that mean better reliability and durability than a non forged mustang engine?

 

means they can take more abuse... as in more power.

 

prolly just as reliable too

 

Cobra would be able to take more boost, probably around 15 and mabey upto 20 psi on stock internals

 

I had to have my GT motor built to handle the Kenne Bell power. In the process I've learned that the 4 valve head on the Cobra can make an extra 100 horses over the 2 valve. The 3 valve on the 05 still has one cam, so the flow may be better than 2v, but not as tunable as 4v.

I'd go 02 Cobra, and Kenne Bell
