Default 4:10 Gear Whine??????

Hey everyone , Ive been getting mixed responses on this issue ,hoping a community vote may send me in the right direction....
I've go a 2006 Mustang Gt , I just had a 4:10 Ford motorsport gear installed by a local guy that seems to know his s**t, I bought it from Summit racing , anyways .....cars great no problems except on COAST there is a slight shril/whine type noise, I know the noise I've heard it before on other cars but allways got mixed reviews from different sources ... I figure that this may be normal to a degree due to the gear size but unsure ....also it seems that the noise has quieted down since the initial drive till now ...ive put about 100 miles on it so far ......please give me your thoughts or if youve experienced/have the same issue ...normal/not ..big problem down the road or a normal nuisance?????
Thanks
Mike

Mine have not whined at all, I have the FRPP 3.73's. If you go with the different brands(motive's, richmonds)you do stand the chance for whine but I'd take it back and have them do it right if the whine doesnt go away. I am wearing my flame reatrdent suit so flame away for the brand comment if youfeel the need

Not sure, when I asked about break in I was not to take it to the track for a couple of days but thats it. I have heard you should give it ~1000 miles but I just cant see doing that since mine never did whine.

Edit: What gear oil did the installer use? Some dont use enough friction modifier and that can cause gear whine. I provided my installer 3 qts of RP synthetic with friction modifier.

i was told break in for 500 miles /then track time was ok, but i also know they wear in a pattern and they cant be readjusted afterwards ...not really sure what to do ....im just wondering if 1. this is no big deal and just annoying
and 2. if lft alone will it ir wont it cause any permanent damage or just stay like this and be fine???

I can not speak about the whine; but I have talked to guys who know their stuff and they say mileage does not matter, it is all about the heat cycles.
You should give your new gears 2 -3 heat cycles, making the last cycle a nice long drive.
Drive the thing normally; do not baby it, but do not dog it.

Well that makes me feel a bit better cause I got some 10-15 minute local drives and then i took a drive to elgin and back to schaumburg on sat on the highway ....that would sound perfect for the heat cycle theory ..ive heard that a perfect set up is good to go after install too...unsure ..just concerned about this down the road sometime

thanks though that helps
