Supercharger or turbocharger

RE: Supercharger or turbocharger
I like the way vortech S/C looks rather than the little turbine looking thing. The only thing is that the S/C is run by belt which means that the engine will be doing more work to force the air into the engine, rather than using exhaust gas the turbo would use.
Price is also a big factor, and a 3200 vortech seems like a real nice deal. Im also not looking to use a high psi (I guess 8psi is alright) and I think the S/C would be easier to control.
your the experts, you tell me what I should get. You guys never steered me wrong before.

I'm certainly no expertwhen it comes to carsbut...think any supercharger you get, will puta smile on your face. I did like the centri because the boost came on late, which meant I could drive around the city all day and never go into boost. I got really good gas mileage.Vortech has fine reputation just like the others. Good luck and enjoy.

Dennis, you can run 10lbs without hurting the engine on the Vortech SQ2 trim (or whatever they call it). It's good for 340 HP at the wheels and on a 6 banger, it comes hard around 3000 rpm.
You can go 12/13lbs with 400 horses but now, you're intouncertain teritory as far as reliability. You don't wanna use your pistons for ash trays.

great info guys.
is there a way to change the psi? like say I dont like 8psi, can I go down to 5?
and doesnt the S/C kick in at WOT? or is it once you hit a certain RPM?

RE: Supercharger or turbocharger
Yeah, you can change the boost. I just don't know how they do it for sure. Maybe pulleys for starters.
Someone will jump in and gave you the answer for that shortly.
For reference: I'm doing the Vortech as soon as I have the cash. Probably after Xmas

Well I can't speak for all SC, but I wouldn't even know mine was there if it wasn't for the whine that becomes audible at around 2500rpms. If I don't stab it then it drives like normal.
