Default My 2005 GT project at work

Yup, even though i dont like the 05's i am working on one at work. Its a 2005 GT, black, grey leather interior. 5 speed, my color. So the kid buys it, we chat and then he tells me he is gonna get a few mods. So i say, cool.
Well, today he brought it in. He bought Steeda Underdrive pulleys, FORD racing 4.10 gears, and Steeda Short throw shifter.
I put the Underdrive pulleys on. I had to sit up stairs and test all day. but got done at 4 o clock. So i spend an hour putting the pulleys on. Now bad. they were very easy to install. Just like the ones on my 98 GT. Except make sure you remove the drivers side Alternator bolt. lol. I cant tell you how it goes with just pulleys because its still up in the air, with the rear end cover off and the oil draining.
Tomorrow i'll start on the 4.10's and Tri-Ax. After i take it for a test drive i'll let you know how i like it. I just pray he either gets it dyno tuned and chipped, or he gets a handheld.
Here are pics ---->
These are before the underdrives. I couldnt belive how much smaller the crank pulley was than stock. The water pump pulley is bigger. No alt. pulley.

Casper,

Is this going to end his warranty, or is it still in effect?
I have been looking into the underdrive pulleys, but am wary due to the fact I live in AZ, ... It gets HOT here Do you think I would be alright?, Will the aluminum block and heads make enough difference to pull it off? They should shed heat well...
I now have 1400 miles on my GT and figure i'm up for its first oil change, I have always burnt mobile 1, but not sure I can get it in the vicosity that the 4.6 calls for, what would you use?
How are the components quality wise of Steeda?
Since you already have a GT diff open, can you verify that it has a Limited slip? I have heard there are different ratios for the actual ability for a diff to send so many ft pounds of torq from one wheel to the other, so say a tire breaks at 30lbs of torq a 3x diff can send a max torq of 90lb to the wheel with traction is this true?

Thanks
Marty

Wow.... I will answer all these questions for ya one by one....

1.) His warranty will still be in effect.... If his rear end breaks an axle tube, warranty will NOT pay for it
If something happens because of these mods, then it will break his warranty for that certain part.
2.) Underdrive pulleys are something i recommend to anyone looking for a good mod. You will be ok with these pulleys.
3.) My customer has 1523 miles. I just changed his oil and used a Motorcraft filter (820) and put in 0W-20 weight oil from MObile 1, its the perfect oil for the new FORD motors that need 5W-20.
4.) I personally use alot of Steeda parts in my own Mustang. I like the quality of them.
5.) Yeah i have the diff open, and it is a posi rear end. FORDs TRAC-LOK.. its called. Used synth gear oil with a friction modifier. All 05 GT's come with 3.55 (mannual) rear end gears and limited slip. ( if you will) Autos come with 3.31's... And if it sends a certain amount of power to a certain wheel, that would be traction control. Not a rear ends abliity. I hope i helped Marty!

V8, in these new 2005 Mustangs the PCM tells how much gas you give it. REacts with the new elec. throttle control and tells it if you can give it full throttle. In the new Stangs, because of this you cant do a full brake stand, and you cant powershift. So in order to really feel the mods you throw at it. I would recommend chip it or get a handheld tuner. So you can bypass this and have some real fun!

thanks, but for the time it takes to save up a little extra cash for the tuned comp, it would be fine?
