Default shaker 500 issues

I tried the search but didnt find anything that pertains to my problem. Yesterday morning I got in my car to go to work and I look down to turn the radio on. First I notice there is no sound. Second i notice that the disk counter is running backwards and the time is blinking every 10 seconds or so. I turn the the car off and restart, not thinking that i have to open the door to shut power off to the radio. I shut her down again and open the door. The radio was still being powered. The time was lit and the counter stopped counting. I repeated these steps 4 times. Turn on then off then opendoor shut door restart car. Eventually it cleared the system and the radio is working fine now. Is this a known problem? I seem to remember a previous post saying that the battery may be faulty causing this problem. Any input? Thanks

These Shakers are notorious for having problems. If it persists I would take it to your dealer if your car is still under warranty. If not you will get much better sound out of an aftermarket head unit.

Good luck

I was expecting a two word post judging by the title: Shaker 500 issues - IT SUCKS!!!! If you look up Shaker 500 in the dictionary, it says : Please see Skipper 500, or Crapper 500

mine has done the same thing, in both my 06 and my 05... it gets stuck in a loop or something and all your inputs compile, confusing hte system even more... best thing is to stop car and open the door to reset it... kinda irritating...

yea, you know for what the salesman atthe stealership made this "shaker 500" out to be, im seriously not impressed. at minimum it could have had at least a 5band digital eq. i would like to hear a drop around the 1k to 3k Hz range and the 250 to 500 Hz range. Even though you have control over the bass and treble, lol. You have nothin over those mids. Well anyway good luck with your fix hopefully you still have some warranty time left...

Warranty I do have! Just turned 6000 miles and have only had the car 14 months. Just curious if I continue to have the problem after they replace the head unit, if that is what they do, do you think the shaker 1000 would be any better? Maybe i could talk the dealership into putting that into my car! Just a thought, otherwise aftermarket i will have to go with. I am just not into those DD head units, navigation systems and things of the sort.! Just give me a radio and speakers that play loud and i am happy!

I beleive the only diff between the 500 and 1000 is the 1000 has the base box in the trunk. So switching to a 1000 may not help. I actually have the 1000 with no problems but soon going to switch to an aftermarket...You can still get an aftermarket to fill the factory hole with basic CD and radio...good luck.

Take it to the dealer and get it replaced at least until your warranty runs out and then get an aftermarket unit.
