I was expecting a two word post judging by the title: Shaker 500 issues - IT SUCKS!!!! If you look up Shaker 500 in the dictionary, it says : Please see Skipper 500, or Crapper 500

in my opinion, the shaker systems are great. unless you are an exteme audio enthusiest, those sound fine. even the 500 with only the door woofers and no main subwoofer assembly sounds good to me. i have known plenty of people with these units that never had any problems.
dont take this post the wrong way, i'm not trying to slam you or anything. it just gets frustrating when people say these shaker systems suck just because they or their buddy and a few others had problems with them. and i'm also not saying aftermarket isn't cool. i used to be into that lifestyle deeply. now when you refer to the shaker 500, and you say it sucks because of these head unit issues (ex. skipper/crapper 500). thats all fine and good, everyone is entitled to their opinion. but when you call the shaker 500 crap, you need to state the whole truth in your opinion...shaker 500 and 1000 system head units suck. 95% of the internal electronics are the same.

Just some basic operations of the unit suck, like how long it takes to go from one cd to another, or how you can't jump from one cd to another without having to go in numerical order, like when I want to jump from #4 back to #1.
The basic sound of the stereo isn't what sucks, and most of us who aren't audiophiles are fine with it. But the skips, the inability to play WMA files, CD-RW's etc, etc., that is the true definition of SUCK!

RE: shaker 500 issues
Shaker 500 ITSELFis a known problem. The whole unit stinks from the feedbacks of people that I came across of and at least 1 out of 2 has already given problems to the consumers. Personally, I switched from that to a regular OEM single CD player with no mp3 playback option (got it for 40 bux) because mine was replaced twice so after going to the dealership the 2nd time I took it out while it was still new and sold it.

So just how many people need how many problems for the Shaker 500 to, in your opinion, suck?

RE: shaker 500 issues
Sorry if my response came out a little hot, bro!
Often it's hard to show I'm not mad at a poster, but the suckiness!
I had been ripping my CDs onto my computer in WMA files, which played just fine on my Alpine 10 cd changer. No skips or gaps between songs. I had close to 100 cds mixed and would keep those in my car and the store-bought cds safe at home. I just don't want to go through the process of reripping and reburning.
Mine's a 2005 so I bet they might have improved things by now.
