Default RE: Black Cars

This is my first black car. I bought it in early April during the dreaded pollen season in North Carolina. Pollen is not the friend of the black Mustang. Now I fight the problem of being in a brand new subdivision where eight homes are under construction. The road in and out of the subdivision is either dusty or muddy all the time. Even if I clean it to perfection I can't even drive out to the main road without having to pull over and wipe off the trunk area. Having five coats of a high quality wax on mine does help to make it sparkle. It does look great when it is clean but it is a pain to keep it that way. I recommend Pinnacle Crystal Mist between cleaning. It restores 99% of the shine with little or now work. I purchased a complete car care kit designed especially for black or red cars that I have found to be an excellent combination of products. I have listed the link below. I also recommend the California Duster for a quick clean up if you have dust or pollen on your black car. Even with the challenges of the black finish, I would by another black Mustang in a minute. Don't consider buying one unless you have the time and energy to work at keeping it clean or can handle driving a dirty car during the week. To me having a black car is like having a pet. You have to tend to it every day if you want to or not.

I'm a black car fan all the way, but you do have to know what your getting into. Black has to be the best color "clean". The california duster and a good wax job is a must and a car cover is the key! whether your in the desert or in the humidity, covering your car at night keeps the moisture and the fine dust from accumulating. Throwing that car cover on every night definitly will be the challenge.[sm=smiley5.gif]

I know what you mean, but once you've had black, you will never go back!

Mine is black... and dirty as always. It's only clean for a few hours after I wash it.

When I bought it I decided there were only a few colors I didn't want... red, white and yellow. When I looked for my car (v6, manual transmission) I only found four in the area. Two that weren't the colors I didn't want. The people with the black one worked with me the best, so I ended up with that one.

I have no regrets.

If yours is black you are very lucky and should be in for quite a lot of fun. I too have also heard that the black ones are much harder

I am looking forward to getting mine in (hopefully around September?)

Funny... my first 'Stang was a 96 GT Black... since then I have not had a black car...my next 'stang was a Red 99 Cobra... then the BLUE 02 WRX, (that color blue seems to define the color blue), and the new car is silver... my very very first car was a white 89 Escort 5 door... and the black was the hardest to keep clean... the pollen in East Tennessee was aweful...

While I agree that a black car nicely polished is very pretty... it is also hot as hell in the south, and very hard to continue to keep clean... white cars are no better... they get dingy...
