Default O/D Question

Took the stang out for a cruise yesterday and normally when I drive it around town I take it out of O/D (5th). Yesterday when I hit the button it didn't take it out of gear. The car seems to shift and run fine but I'm just wondering if anyone with an auto has experienced this issue. As always, your help is much appreciated.

Ya, I'm pretty sure. I even stopped at a light and put it in park and then back in drive to see if that would change anything. Just for grins I'll reload the tune tonight to see if that does anything. Thanks!

I just went home over lunch and reloaded the tune and drove it back to work with no issues. Seems weird but I'll have to keep an eye on things. Thanks for the help!

Have you driven any long highway stretches lately? Might be the PCM doing it's autolearn thing which is commonly taken care of by reloading the tune.

Ah, good possibility. I'm not on the highway much with it and haven't had it happen before but anything can happen right? It was strange as it would drive and shift normal all the way into 5th but if I hit the button it would stay in 5th and not downshift unless of course I hit the gas it would downshift. It was almost like the button was broken. I do appreciate the help and thoughts.

Hmmm does the o/d off light illuminate when you press the button? Something broken is a possiblity Not that the light coming on would be an absolute as far as ruling out a busted button but if it doesnt come on that would an indication of a problem.

Yes the light would come on but not down shift to 4th. If I put it in drive it would shift normal right into 5th and then when I hit the button the light would come on but no down shift. Really strange. Drove it again tonight and she's working fine. All I did was reload the tune. Thanks!
