Painted wheel wells ???
IMO it would not look good... You need depth to your wheels, and I don't like the idea of a colored background behind them. It doesnt seem like it would look right.
And remember, retro is only cool if you know retro - 99% of the people on the street will wonder why the heck your wheel wells are painted. Including me.
Anyways, someone is bound to experiment, so I'm down for some educating pics when its all done.

I can still picture someone doing it. You know the type. "Hey, nice car. Too bad you have those crappy unpainted wheel wells. You should paint them like my custom quadruple primed, powder-coated, metal flaked, gravel resistant ones." No one's car will be worth two cents unless they have them done like him, but even then, it's not good enough because he did it first, and his is the only perfect car in his eyes. I can't stand those people.
One question. Why? It's like painting the gas tank, nobody will notice(unless you're gonna enter car shows and style points rule the day). I think it's a waste of time, there are better things to exhaust your time on IMO.

Come on! Let's shake the wheel well painters out of the woodwork. Someone has to have done this...either to great accolades, or great shame. Just tell us or show us. We won't make fun. We're scientists. We really just want the data.

very funny your answer
