Its true, Toyota is the only car manufacturer building vehicles in entirely in the US. Ford and GM are in Mexico and Canada.
But the money goes where?
Toyota is a Joke and NASCAR pioneers are rolling in thier graves and the current OFFICIALS should be ashamed.
I'd love to see sports car platforms join racing again.
And Darrell Waltrip will get his a## kicked to eternity by the NASCAR pioneers once he joins them, because of racing a damn Toyota in the race they created.

Not trying to defend the COT but its not just the open air vertical downforce that was the imperative for the wing -its also the lateral (stabilizing) effect and how it works in dirty air.

The wing plates also help stabilize laterally, which a ducktail does not. And in dirty air, the downforce effect of the spoiler was very intermittent at best and generally very unpredictable...this definately seperated the great drivers from everyone else but also led to a lot of serious wrecks.

There are plenty of examples where the wing plates have helped keep the COT (as well as other cars like those in WC) from flipping ends.

Also the wing is less restrictive in creating the downforce as proven in the wind tunnel tests.

Now the high wing was also supposed to help in dirty air as it tends to do in other race series, but I think there is evidence that they need to tweak that aspect.

Ford_dude - after the aero package we wound up with about 100lbs at 100mph, but we've stepped back from a lot of that tinkering so not sure where we are with just the aftermarket aero...probably not much above 100lbs, which is actually pretty comfortable as the uplift really does not progress too bad above 100mph. I heard the Shelby was neutral at 100mph, which kind of makes sense because we only lowered 3/4 in front so we still have a whole lot of air sucking in below.
