Whats the best gear?
What would I get the most preformance out of and less damage on other parts of the car with...
a 3.73 or 4.10?
It'll be going in a Automatic 06-07GT with the basic stock tires..... Not really looking to do 1/4 miles, but to just kinda give it a little boost off the line if i ever wanted to go fast :]

RE: Whats the best gear?
Ok thanks...
I read A LOT of posts about people wanting/getting the 4.10
but i wont really use my car to race, I am going to make it fast though... just doubt I ever really do anything with it..
But thanks again!

RE: Whats the best gear?
*This is info I garnered and I do not represent this as expert advice; I am not the President of Ford, not an ASE certified mechanic or professional racer. Please just use this info as another source of information to be considered with everyone else's "expert advice".*
With the auto trans, most speed shops and people here I have talked to, recommend the 3.73's.
I went with the 3.73's and it really made a difference. If your going to use your mustang as a daily driver, this is the the best choice. I actually had my gas milage improve when I switched to the 3.73's from stock.
Another point; My wife works at a Ford dealership and after a lengthy discussion with the service director about gears and what to buy, this is what he had to say. I wanted to buy the Ford Performance Racing gears and he suggested against it. Here is why. I am not going to race my car professionally ( I will go to the track once when my blower is installed ) just wanted to be able to spank some youngin's in their imports. When you install the FRPP gears into your rear end, you just voided your powertrain warranty. This was a concern for me (maybe not everyone is concerned with warranty issues). He explained to me that the standard Ford gears will work for most people's street use and the only difference between the FRPP and the standard gears is that Ford certifiy's the fit and alignment of the Racing Gears (only important if you are going to be putting down tremendous amounts of HP and using drag radials that will put extreme pressure on the tranny).
Now most mechanics when having to do a rear end repair, will not take the time to count the fins in the gears to confirm that the gears in the car are the ones that came with the car, but the FRPP are stamped big and bold. Now your stealership will look a little harder at most cars with lots of bolt-ons for reasons that something failed or caused another part to fail so if your going toinstall a turbo or SC you take your chance that they will not do the investigation.
