Default how should i launch at track

im gonna race my 05 gt next week for the first time....in over 2 years i have never abused it..i have never power shifted or even done a burnout more than a foot.....its my only car so i care for it, but i wanna try the 1/4. how should i launch....do i redline at the start and drop the clutch or is there a certain rpm to keep it at.....i have very wide tires in the rear and they stick like no other but the tires are alot so i dont want to burn out and waste a couple thousand miles of tread....bc they are so sticky i dont want to *** up my rear...im thikning about not doing the water box or even a reg burnout and just go for it...any tips would be appreciated...last time i raced at the track was a 85 monte carlo ss that barely broke 17's..(btw i have brenspeed 93-c&l...295/30/20 toyo proxes 4(rear)....what time should i be running w/ these mods....i know 20's will slow me down a lil but i shouldnt break loose too much at the start so it might make up for it.

start with 4k rpm. if you hook, raise the rpm next time, if you spin, lower the rpm. do this in 500rpm increments until you hit the sweet spot. avoid the water box entirely. and don't worry about busting the rear...ours is virtually bulletproof.

i ran a 13.4 stock, with stock rubber etc., so you should be better than that. then again you have 20's, so you may be around 13.4...

I dump it at 5,500 with my slicks and haven't had a problem with anything. I don't think you'll stick from the high but try it at 4 and feather it.

Umm You should launch at like 2000 rpm. Anything higher and you will just spin. When I was at the track I launched at like 4000 and just sat their spinning. The best I ran was a 13.8 1/4 mile about 95 degrees out.

+1 Those toyo's are not sticky, they will spin. I'm guessing 14.2 at 100. 20's FTMFL!!!!

I saw a turbocharged s197 with 20's having trouble breaking into the 12's!He was trapping 118 though.

ok maybe not the sticky like a m/t drag radial....but i would compare mine to my old bf comp t/a's ..they are wide and since they are 20's they dont want to spin any way.... and like i said i dont get on it too much.... i have had them since june and still have not broken traction....even in the rain i can barely spin 'em.....alomost 300 per tire so im in no mood to burn them just for fun....
