What would happen if you used 0W-40 weight oil (Mobil 1) for just 3 months? (in a hot climate)

Well, the 0W part of it stands for WINTER. It lets the oil get around sooner during cold start ups. The problem lies with the 40 part of it. It would have higher than normal oil pressure, and LESS oil circulation. I'd guess it would do a number on the lifters and bearings. Pretty much FUBAR'd.

I went with the Motorcraft 5w-20 blend.. OEM
Same here. I've used synthetic religiously in several cars over the years and I have zero evidence to prove it made a bit of difference. Use what the manual recommends, and buy a good quality filter. If you change the oil as required, you're never going to know the difference.

I find it disconcerting that someone being PAID to change the oil on another persons car needs to ask what kind of oil to use.......

JDM and the local Ford dealer reccomended 5W-50 Full Syntheticfor SC applications. I bought the oil directly from Ford (labeled for gt500, comes in a red bottle) that's what comes from the factory in the gt500 cars.

+1 except for those of us thatadd power adders, that throws the manual out the window. I was surprised myself to find thatthe gt500 runs 5w-50.

They recommend that for both the 5.4 and 4.6L engines?
