That's why you never buy in the first year! That, plus the whole bug-fix, early adopter snags and glitches. Best time to pick up most cars is toward the end of their model cycle. Only thing about that though, is that you get the itch to trade once those new models debut...[:@]From what I've seen of the spy shots for the '09 model, doesn't look like enough of a revision on the outside. Maybe it has more to do with the things that should have been on the car for the last two generations. Things like standard front, side, AND head curtain airbags. Stability control, and a modern suspension setup would bring the car in line with all of it's rivals. Oh, and let's not forget, NO MAST ANTENNA, and some DECENT FREAKIN' MIRRORS!!!!! I hope someone from Ford at least skims these forums...

You know, I don't even care if they put the stuff on, I just want the parts. It seems ridiculous that a dealer could not order a complete replacement seat, I just don't understand why. Maybe if I could see a schematic drawing of the two different styles of seats, that give the darn part numbers, I could do a real cost analysis, and figure out if it's worth it. I can't imagine that there's NO part of the manual seats that are not also used in the power seats. There are a couple of seat sets on Ebay right now, from older model years, that have the SAB setup and power DS. A guy on here touched on harness differences between the '07s and the older years. He converted his passenger seat over to power, not sure if he had SAB already though. I would definitely prefer that the dealer didn't have to modify anything, just provide me with the complete assembly and switch gear I need to get it done myself. I wonder if the fact that I'm looking to trade both my Accords in for a pair of Mustangs will help my cause any...

I'd make the best deal possible on the purchase and then ask for the necessary parts at cost and see what they say (it may help to have it escalate to the GM).
That would be fine. I don't mind trying the install myself. I'm not going to force them to give away labor to put the stuff on, just want to see if I can get some genuine help doing the conversion, hopefully from the community here. The Vista V6 my wife's wanting has a black interior with the SAB and power DS. I think that car will be the easiest to try and change. The Torch GT I'm looking at has a gray interior and the power DS, but no SAB, so I'm going to need some info on how to install the sensors and modules. We're acutally thinking about swapping the interiors, becuase we both think the blue looks better with gray, and red with the black. Tearing out the interiors will also give me the opportunity to get some paint work done, so that I can try and mimic the effect shown on the Maaco Medusa 'Stang. Without the color shifting paint, of course.
Ford knows the camaro's & challenger's are coming...They will want to sell all the stangs on their lot..I've bought my last 3 cars online through my dealer so "id recommend that, internet salesmen have more pull plus they are likely managers..Negotiation is what America's all about
Yeah, I'm aware enough to know about the battery thing...
I've been conditioning myself to think battery disconnect for anything I do, just to make sure I get in the habit of it. If I can get somebody who works in parts to get me dealer cost, and a list, I'll be in business. Thanks for chiming in guys, keep it coming.
P.S.- I've already been in contact with a salesman over the phone[:@]Do you think it would rub the wrong people the wrong way if I switched over to internet dealing only? Maybe hurt my chances of getting a hold of the parts I need? Just curious...

I feel you. I've got one more local dealer that I haven't been in contact with yet, so I'll contact their internet sales dept., and see if I can wheel and deal through them. Also, do you guys think any of the service/repair manuals would have part numbers to go along with the diagrams they show??? Maybe that would be a simple way to check the parts I'll have against the ones I'll need. Oh yeah, anybody check on those heated signal mirrors that Stillen carries yet? Just curious, since nobody's seemed to follow up since I posted the link to them. Here it is again, just in case...

I'm not sure, but aren't those both Ford installed options? You want the dealer to install their options, not ones that should have been installed at the factory. That means things like floor mats, stripes, car covers, wheel upgrades. That's why most folks will ask for those or an extended warranty, free oil changes and services when bargaining.
