Love'n the Hurst
Love’n the Hurst.
Let me start from the beginning. About a year or so ago I installed the saleen short throw adapter and I loved it. It made the throw a lot shorter and notchy which I liked. There wasn’t any more of that “is it in gear or not” feeling.
I’ve been reading all the posts comparing and talking about the MGW and Hurst and decided to get the Hurst because it was cheaper and I like the look (with the black ball)
Fast forward to yesterday when I installed my Hurst. I did it solo which I don’t think would have been a problem at all but I forgot that I had used a little bit of locktite on the saleen adapter. After some frustration and some PB Blaster (awesome stuff) I got the old one shifter disconnected and removed. Installing the Hurst, and probably any aftermarket shifter for that matter, was a breeze. There isn’t much to screw up except the orientation of the handle part but that should be real obvious if it is backwards and takes only a minute to correct. Not that I did that J
I was blown away at how it operated. I wasn’t expecting much improvement over the saleen adapter. You see the real reason for doing this was so that one day I could get a spyder shaft which won’t fit with the saleen adapter installed. The throw is shorter again and feels even better. It isn’t too notchy at all and glides into gear with ease. Some people have posted how they have to use a good bit of force to get it in gear but mine is super easy.. or I may have just gotten used to the saleen adapter. Either way I love it. I installed the black ball instead of the white ball because I have black leather interior and it looks top notch.
The only thing I would change is the height of the shifter. It seems a bit high. That being said, I’m sure I’ll get used to it and it isn’t that high, but if I had to give it a ‘con’ that would be it.
I’m sure the MGW and Tri-ax are even better, but man if you don’t want to spend the extra $100 I would definitely look at the Hurst.
I’ll take a pic later of the shifter with the black ball, but others have already posted some somewhere so use the search if you want to see it pronto.

RE: Love'n the Hurst
Glad you're happy...
I installed a lot of these and they work great. I think it's the shortest throw out there right now.
Go back to it, in a week or so, and make sure your handle stays tight. You have to crank those 2 allen screws kind of hard, if not, it will loosen on you.
Enjoy it.
